Below you will find an overview of the most important prices. The train ticket includes access to our museum in Stadskanaal.

Note: these prices are valid on normal driving days. These are the so-called ‘yellow’ and ‘red’ driving days. Different rates may apply on special driving days (‘blue’) days. The prices of packages are stated with the relevant packages.

Different prices apply during the STAR Days (16 and 17 September 2023).

Please arrive at the ticket office on time, at least 30 minutes before departure.

12 years and older

  • Entrance to museum only: € 2.00

4 to 11 years

Children from 4 to 11 years old pay a fixed price, this is the child ticket of € 7.50. Exceptions to this are the packages and the combi tickets. Children must travel accompanied by an adult. The child ticket has the same validity as the ticket of the accompanying adult.

Children’s ticket for the museum (without train journey): € 1.00

0 to 3 years

Children up to and including 3 years old travel for free on our trains.

  • Dogs: free
  • Bicycle transport in train: € 2.50
  • Cycling routes: € 2.00


Special rates apply to groups on normal driving days. Outside the normal driving days it is also possible to rent the train. For more information, please contact us.

Ticket sales

In Veendam and Stadskanaal you can buy train tickets at the counter in the station. You can also pay with your PIN card there. If you start your journey at one of the stops, you can buy a ticket from the conductor.

Buy tickets online

You can buy e-tickets online for various driving days, packages and a number of events. You can pay with iDeal and credit card.

The journeys are usually carried out with historic carriages pulled by a historic steam or diesel locomotive. Museumspoorlijn STAR reserves the right to use other equipment for its own reasons, or to deviate from the timetable. When entering the stations and stops and using the rolling stock, the General Terms and Conditions of Museum Railway STAR are applied.
