Shuttle rides with the fireless steam locomotive and handcar
Have you always wanted to ride on a steam locomotive? You can do so aboard our fireless steam locomotive in the Stadskanaal station yard. You can also power your own ride on a traditional handcar!
Activities for children
Children can enjoy the play carriage inside the carriage shed. Outside, there is a bouncy castle, and face painting is available throughout the event. A beautiful traditional carousel with train-themed seats is also waiting for young visitors. And of course, a ride on one of our steam trains is an unforgettable experience!
Model railway exhibition
During Stadskanaal under Steam, the carriage shed at Stadskanaal station hosts a model railway exhibition. A variety of railway traders will be present, and model railway enthusiasts from Emmen will be showcasing their working model railway layout.
Open workshop
The STAR workshop is open to visitors. Take a look behind the scenes at the restoration and maintenance of our historic rolling stock. Our volunteers will be happy to explain their work and answer your questions!
