Can I take pictures of the trains at the stations?

Of course you can. However, you may only take photos in places accessible to the public. So from the platforms and the walkways. Do you want to take photos for commercial purposes? Or for a wedding report, for example? Then contact us for the possibilities.

Can I park at the stations?

There is ample parking space for cars at the Stadskanaal and Veendam stations. Parking space is limited at Wildervank and Bareveld.

Can I also buy something to eat or drink?

On all operating days (except for some special arrangements) the station restaurants in Stadskanaal and Veendam are open for a bite to eat and a drink.

On most operating days, a restaurant car also travels on the train where you can buy coffee, tea, soft drinks and a small snack.

Can I travel by train with a wheelchair?

Yes, that is possible. Please let us know in advance (via info@stadskanaalrail.nl or on the day of the ride itself in the morning via +31 599 651890), the number of wheelchair spaces is limited. This way we prevent disappointments!
Do you have an electric wheelchair? Please let us know in advance. Our wheelchair lift has a lifting capacity of 400kg.

Can I take my dog ​​on the train?

Yes, that is allowed. The dog can come along for free.

Can I also buy something to eat or drink?

Can I take my bicycle on the train?

Yes, that is possible. On normal driving days, there is always a bicycle trailer. You can buy a special bicycle ticket for this at the counter.

On special and special driving days (‘blue timetable’), bicycle transport is not always possible. This will then be indicated in the timetable of the day in question.

Can strollers and walkers be taken on the train?

Yes, that is not a problem. In most carriages there is space to park your stroller (folded) or walker.

Is coffee/tea also available on the train?

Most trains have a bar carriage. Here you can buy coffee and tea as well as soft drinks and small snacks.

Can I sit anywhere on the train?

Yes, you can take a seat in any carriage. If seats are reserved, this is indicated at the carriage in question,

Can I pay with a card?

At the stations Stadskanaal and Veendam you can pay for your train ticket with Card. The tickets in our online ticket shop can be paid with credit card.

Do I need to make a reservation for a train ride?

Reservations are not required, with the exception of special driving days and arrangements.

You can buy tickets in advance in our online ticket shop. You can pay there with credit card.

Is the museum Pass also valid?

Unfortunately, the museum pass is not valid at Museum railway STAR.

Can the train also be rented for a party or special meeting, for example?

Yes, our trains are for rent. Not only with a steam locomotive, but also with historical diesel locomotives. Look for the possibilities on the page ‘Your own train‘.

I heard that it is possible to get married at Stadskanaal station?

Yes, that’s right, our station building is a wedding location. You can also hold your reception or party in the station or on the train!

Are e-tickets also available?

Yes, they are for sale in our online ticket shop. You can pay with iDeal or credit card.

Can I cancel an e-ticket?

I have a (family) annual ticket, can I take the train?

Yes, that is no problem. For special driving days and arrangements you may have to make a reservation and/or pay extra.
