Below you will find an overview of the main ticket prices. The train ticket includes admission to our museum in Stadskanaal. Please note: these prices are valid on regular operating days. These are the so-called “yellow” and “red” operating days. On special (“blue”) days different rates may apply. The prices of arrangements are listed with the respective arrangements. Please make sure to be at the ticket office on time, at least 30 minutes before departure.

12 years and older

4 to 11 years

Children aged 4 to 11 pay a fixed price, which is the child ticket of € 7.50. Exceptions are arrangements and combitickets. Children must travel accompanied by an adult. The child ticket has the same validity as the ticket of the accompanying adult.

0 to 3 years

Children up to 3 years old travel for free on our trains; the combitickets with the Veenkoloniaal Museum are also free up to age 3.

• On all operating days (except for some special arrangements), the station restaurants in Stadskanaal and Veendam are open for a snack and a drink.

Groups

Special rates apply for groups on regular operating days. Groups of 25 or more paying persons receive a 10% discount on train tickets. The discount does not apply to arrangements. Outside regular operating days it is also possible to hire the train. For more information, please contact us.

Ticket sales

In Veendam and Stadskanaal you can buy train tickets at the station ticket counter. You can also pay by debit card. If you start your journey at one of the halts, you can buy a ticket from the conductor.

For all operating days, arrangements and events, you can buy e-tickets online. You can pay with iDeal and credit card.

The journeys are generally operated with historic coaches pulled by a historic steam or diesel locomotive. Museumspoorlijn STAR reserves the right to use other rolling stock or deviate from the timetable for its own reasons. When entering the stations and halts and when using the rolling stock, the
