Below you will find an overview of the most important prices. The train ticket includes access to our museum in Stadskanaal.

Please note: these prices are valid on normal driving days. These are the so-called ‘yellow’ and ‘red’ driving days. On special driving days (‘blue’) days, different rates may apply. The prices of packages are stated with the relevant packages.

Make sure you are at the ticket office on time, in any case 30 minutes before departure.

4 to 11 years

Children aged 4 to 11 pay a fixed price, this is the child ticket of €7.50. Exceptions to this are the packages and the combination tickets. Children must travel accompanied by an adult. The child ticket has the same validity as the ticket of the accompanying adult.

0 to 3 years

Children up to 3 years travel for free on our trains, the combination tickets with the Veenkoloniaal museum are also free up to 3 years.

• Overnight stay in the STAR wagon:
  2 persons 75 euros per night.
  From the 3rd night 50 euros per night.
  The 3rd, 4th and 5th person can stay overnight for only 10 euros per person per night.
  Bicycle rental is possible, costs 10 euros per bicycle, per day

• Bicycle transport on train: €2.50
• Bicycle routes: €2.00
• On all driving days (except for some special arrangements) the station restaurants in Stadskanaal and Veendam are open for a snack and a drink.

Groups

Special rates apply to groups on normal driving days. Outside the normal driving days it is also possible to rent the train. Please contact us for more information.

Ticket sales

In Veendam and Stadskanaal you can buy train tickets at the ticket office. You can also pay with your debit card there. If you start your journey at one of the stops, you can buy a ticket from the conductor.

Buy tickets online

For all travel days, packages and events you can buy e-tickets online. You can pay with iDeal and credit card.

The journeys are usually carried out with historic carriages pulled by a historic steam or diesel locomotive. Museumspoorlijn STAR reserves the right to use other equipment for its own reasons or to deviate from the timetable. When entering the stations and stops and using the equipment, the General Terms and Conditions of Museumspoorlijn STAR apply.
