Discover the nostalgic transport of the Veenkoloniën in 2025! Step aboard the historic Snikke ‘Dieverdoatsie’, a replica of the 19th and 20th century barges. Combine this unique experience with a ride on our beautiful steam train.
Reservations for this package are required due to limited space. Tickets will be available again in our online ticket shop from around May 2025.
When
The package will be offered in 2025 on all Wednesdays and Sundays from 23 July to 10 August and from 20 to 31 August.
The Dieverdoatsie will also be sailing during Stadskanaal onder Stoom on 20 and 21 September; the programme for that weekend will be announced later.
Programme
There are two programmes, programme 1 and programme 2:
Programme 1:
- 09:30: collect your tickets at the ticket office at Stadskanaal Station
- 09:45: departure with the “Dieverdoatsie”from the bridge at Stadskanaal station.
- 12:00: arrival at the Bareveld stop of the STAR
- 12:25: departure with the steam train from the Bareveld stop
- 12:45: arrival at Stadskanaal station
For programme 1, you need to board the boat at the roadside, which is a 100m walk from Stadskanaal station, at the pink bridge.
Programme 2:
- 10.50 am: departure by steam train from the STAR station in Stadskanaal
- 11.35 am: arrival at Veendam station
- 12.05 pm: departure by steam train from Veendam station
- 12.28 pm: arrival at Bareveld stop
- 12.35 pm: departure by the “Dieverdoatsie” from Bareveld stop
- 14.45 pm: arrival at the STAR station in Stadskanaal

Reservations
You can book your ticket online via our Ticket shop you can also make a reservation via info@stadskanaalrail.nl. Reservations for this package are mandatory due to limited space. Tickets will be available again from May 2025. First select the desired date, then the number of tickets desired.
The day trip will only take place if there is sufficient interest. If the trip is cancelled, you will be notified no later than 3 days in advance. Please state your telephone number on which we can reach you.
