Have you always wanted to drive a locomotive yourself? You can at Museumspoorlijn STAR! You will be welcomed with coffee or tea, you will receive an explanation about the diesel locomotive by one of our experienced drivers and then a tour.
You will also get to know the train dispatcher who controls the train traffic and the shunter who operates the switches and couples and uncouples wagons. Afterwards, you will go to the shunting yard with the driver to perform a number of shunting movements with the shunting locomotive and a few wagons. Of course, we will also provide a nice photo to remember this special day.
A fully catered day for €230, bookable for persons aged 18 and over.
Shunting driver arrangement program
| 11:00 a.m.: | You can report to the ticket sales counter. Meet the driver who will be guiding you this day, followed by a tour. |
| 11:15: | Start of service! There is a shunting job that needs to be done. You will go out with the driver and shunter to tackle this job. |
| 12:10: | Break with lunch in the station restaurant. |
| 12:45: | Guided tour of the workshop and museum depot. |
| 2 p.m.: | The steam train is ready to leave; behold the departure. |
| 2:10 p.m.: | The shunting job is not finished yet, time to finish the job! |
| 3:00 p.m.: | You are back at the station, presentation of the driver’s diploma. |
