The STAR summer season kicks off with the Dutch Train Pulling Championship. Strong men and women compete to pull a 21-ton locomotive. The men’s competition is even more challenging, with an additional 10 tonnes added, making the total weight 31 tonnes. Who will succeed in getting the locomotive moving… and who will be the fastest? This event is organised in cooperation with O-S-O (Organisatie Sterke Mannen Oldambt).

Of course, two steam train services to Veendam will also operate during the day, and the museum will be open to visitors.

Ticket sales

Ticket sales start approximately one month before the event. Purchase your ticket through our ticket shop. Upon arrival at the station, you can easily exchange your e-ticket for an authentic train ticket at the ticket office. Tickets are also available at Stadskanaal and Veendam stations. The conductor will check and punch your ticket on board the train.

The timetable will be announced at the beginning of the year.
