Not just the locomotive you already know from before our train\, but also some very special vehicles! Today is all about these unique rail vehicles. You can see them all in Stadskanaal and even take a ride on most of them! \nMany of these devices are so-called Draisines: light\, simple rail vehicles that were once intended for track inspections and to move maintenance personnel to their positions. Most are powered by human power\, some by a small engine. \nSpecial Package\nMake the day extra special and get tickets for the exclusive trip to Nieuw Buinen with two motorized vehicles and a large pump truck! The KLV 11 with its lorry and the Opel Olympia will be coming to Stadskanaal especially for this day. \nThe handcar program to Nieuw Buinen is offered at the following times and can be combined with the steam train ride to Veendam: \n10:30 AM / 11:45 AM / 2:15 PM / 3:30 PM \n \nPrices\nThe handcar package costs €10 for adults and €5 for children. \nTokens for a footplate ride on the various handcars in Stadskanaal cost €1 each\, or 5 for €4. No problem!\nThe Teddy Bear Doctor will have a look at your bear and make it feel better again. \nBirthday of the Bears\n The teddy bears are celebrating their birthday – and of course\, that calls for a party! DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the winter landscape and good food? That’s possible on Sundays 8 and 22 February and Sunday 8 March 2026. During a train ride along the border of Groningen and Drenthe\, a delicious Dutch mash pot is served. A unique opportunity to dine on a moving train! \nEating on the train used to be very common. Even in the Netherlands\, domestic (express) trains had a restaurant car. Nowadays\, you’ll only find this in a few international trains. But at Museumspoorlijn STAR\, it is once again possible. On Sundays 2 and 16 February and 2 March we serve a tasty mash pot during a train ride on our railway line. Along the way\, you can enjoy the winter landscape in the evening twilight in our illuminated and heated historic train. The journey lasts about an hour and a half.
