On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, Stadskanaal under Steam returns once again. Stadskanaal under Steam is the largest steam event in the Northern Netherlands. Besides steam trains, you can also admire steam-powered machinery of all shapes and sizes.
This year’s special guest is the steam locomotive **Helena** from the Steam Train Dendermonde–Puurs in Belgium. Following an extensive restoration, this locomotive returned to service in 2020. During Stadskanaal under Steam, Helena will mainly operate between Stadskanaal and Nieuw Buinen.
In addition to **Helena**, the two large steam locomotives **52 8082** and **52 8060** will operate an extensive timetable between Stadskanaal and Veendam and between Stadskanaal and Nieuw Buinen. The fireless steam locomotive will also be operating in the Stadskanaal station yard.
