Events and special operating days in 2010.

In addition to the ordinary timetable there are also events and special operating days and activities such as the Teddybear-Express and the STAR-days.
The following is a collection of events and special operating days for this year.
By using this website on a regular basis you will be informed of the latest developments.

Monday April 5th, Easter Monday.

Start of the season. See timetable.

Saturday April 17th, Race The Train.




















On April 17th the 13th edition of Race The Train, the run against te train. In 2010, with a renewed course and distances extended to 10 and 20 km. Multiple sports-activities on this day.

Thursday April 30th, The Queen’s Birthday.

In May operating days at May 1st, 2nd, 5th and 9th.
Sunday May 2nd small cargo transport.

Sunday May 9th, Mother's Day trainride with brunch.



















Sunday May 8th is dedicated to mother. Breakfast in bed, gifts, there are many ways to pamper mom.
But it can also be different! In a relaxed pace in a historic train through the landscape of East Groningen with beautiful views, meanwhile enyoing a delicious brunch. Information: (+31) 0599 651890

Thursday May 13th.

National steamtrain day.

Monday May 24th and August 22nd. Teddybear-Express – children's day





















These days there are specially for our young visitors!
Children who will bring a teddybear with them on this day can get in for free*.
Package deal with Wonderworld: on May 24th and August 22nd, one can also use the Teddybear-Express to visit the wonderful world of Wonderworld in Ter Apel. A unique day for children and their companions.
Booking in advance is mandatory. * Children through 11 years, under the guidance of an adult, Max. 3 children per guide.

National day of the fairy tale.

Sunday August 1st.

100 years railwayline Stadskanaal-Zuidbroek.
100th Anniversary of the railwayline Stadskanaal-Zuidbroek.
This railwayline was opened on August 1st, 1910.
Experiense on this day a trainride as it was 100 years ago (as far as possible). Stage-/roleplaying game and so on.

Sunday August 29th.

Combine your cycling tour with Museumrailway S·T·A·R.
Each train has a special carriage for bicycles. Cycling routes available along the whole line.

Saturday September 11th.

European Heritage Day.
No trainrides, but sightseeing at the historic building of Veendam station.
Focus on the 100th Anniversary of the railwayline Stadskanaal-Zuidbroek.

Saturday September 18th and Sunday September 19th.

STAR-days. „Stadskanaal under steam“.
Also in view of 100 years of Stadskanaal-Zuidbroek.

Sunday October 3rd.

„Day of the region“. Focus on local activities.

Sunday October 31st, Halloween.

Trainrides in veiled terms of spheres.

October 20th, 24th and 27th, Autumn Trips.

October 24th goods transport with pea soup, bread and bacon.
On Sundays October 24th and 31st special activities for children in the context of October-month child-month.
The program of the October-month child-month will become available in the course of 2010 by folders and this website.

Saturday November 27th and Sunday November 28th, Sinterklaas Express.



















Travel with St. Nicholas en „Zwarte Piet“. For every child Zwarte Piet has a surprise.
Booking for the Sinterklaas Express is required!

December 19th, 26th (Boxing Day), 29th, Winter Trips.

Sunday December 19th: Winter ride with buffet.
Sunday 26th (Boxing Day) and Sunday 29th: Chrismas ride/New Year's Eve ride.
In our cosy illuminated and heated vehicles, you can enjoy the trainride under the pleasure of a glass of mulled wine.
The Chrismas ride on December 19th can be ended with a buffet at Stadskanaal station.
The exact programme for this day will be announced at the beginning of november.
